About the Author
Glen Davis builds firearms as a hobby. He spends quite a bit of time repairing and restoring antique firearms. While he has made several parts from scratch to use in the repair of antique firearms, this is the first original design to come out of his shop. Not a bad book at all. It's written in a simple manner and explains a lot of the processes in fairly clear detail. It would be nice to have some more pictures and better drawings, but does the job well.
The author left out some important details that would have made the build a lot easier. He covers himself by saying it's not a how-to instruction, but why else would anyone want it? Basic design is good. I disagree on material choice- if you're going to put that much work into it, why not spend a few dollars on 4140 steel and know that you have a good finished project. McMaster-Carr is one reasonable source.

A very good book! Filled with good information and plenty of illustrations to help convey ideas. Easy to understand and follow. Great for the beginner or the experienced!
Not a true lever action, very close to the Hopkins & Allen Model 722 & some Pieper actions.
Great information for those wanting to build their own rifle. It has a rimfire example and a blackpowder example, both of which are fairly easy to build.
